We raised $47,000 at The 2022 Sunshine Foundation Golf Tournament & Luncheon

We are so honored and humbled to share that our 2nd Annual Golf Tournament and Luncheon raised $47,000 for suicide prevention and mental health advocacy.

From our volunteers who worked tirelessly to put this event together to our incredible sponsors and everyone who participated from near and far, this event would not have been possible without your thoughtfulness and generosity. Check out the photos of the event above a video from the event here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep8bfFrzZMA

With the funds raised at the event, we immediately got to work supporting important mental health and suicide prevention programs in the South Florida area and across the nation:

  • We have supported the Henderson Behavioral Crisis Stabilization Unit, which is available anytime for people experiencing an emotional crisis. The South-Florida based response teams provide immediate on-site assessment, crisis intervention and counseling, linkage and referral, follow-up to promote crisis resolution and evaluation, and inpatient hospitalization as necessary.

  • We have teamed up with America's Vet Dogs to sponsor one puppy's training to become a service dog for a Veteran in need. The organization places highly-skilled service and guide dogs to individuals with physical injuries, hearing and vision loss, PTSD, and seizures. Through this program we are given the opportunity to name the puppy, and we've chosen the name Hope.

  • Similarly, we've contributed to K9s for Warriors sponsoring their facility to house more dogs for service dog training. Determined to end veteran suicide, K9s For Warriors provides highly-trained Service Dogs to military veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. With the majority of dogs coming from high-kill rescue shelters, this program allows the pair to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery.

  • We've continued to support the HOPE Sunshine Clubs through Mental Health America and FISP.

  • We have helped fund the 2-1-1 Broward Teenspace program, which offers free, anonymous, 24/7 support for teens when they feel they can't go to anyone else. They can simply call 2-1-1 or 954-567-8336 (TEEN) to share experiences and get support or simply a listening ear.

  • We are also offering financial assistance for therapy services as many insurance companies do not cover it and therefore individuals in need are often left without many options. If you or someone you know needs financial assistance to take of their mental wellness, please reach out to us at dylanssunshinefoundation@gmail.com.

We'd like to take a moment to shout out our event sponsors once more, as without them none of this would be possible.
